Solomon Islands - Population 500,000 with over 347 Islands
7 main Islands: Guadalcanal and Malaita
Distance: 1800 kms NE of Australia
Distance: 2-3 hours flight from Brisbane
Climate: Tropical
Wet Season: December to April
Dry Season: May to December

Solomon Islanders are predominantly Melanesian, and are 90% Christian. The Island's people are friendly, shy and very grateful for help. Regional Assistance Mission has restored order and Honiara is generally safe.

Problems:
There are a lack of basic services including sinks, water, scrub-brushes, antiseptics, and drugs. There are a lack of support services including Imaging and Pathology equipment, as well as stores & records.

Anti-malarial Rx is necessary (doxycycline)
